This program starts on March 12th, 2021 and runs every Friday morning from 9:00 AM MT - 10:15 AM MT for 6 weeks consecutively until May 16th, 2021.
All sessions are recorded and available for replay. You can take your time to work through the program.

Dan Wahlin is a Principal Cloud Developer Advocate at Microsoft focusing on Microsoft 365 and Azure integration scenarios. In addition to his work at Microsoft, Dan creates training courses for Pluralsight, speaks at conferences and meetups around the world, and offers webinars on a variety of technical topics. Prior to joining Microsoft, Dan was CEO of a consulting, architecture, and training company for 20 years helping enterprises build great software.

Week 1: Starting Web Development from Scratch
March 12th, 2021 | 9:00 AM MT - 10:15 AM MT
Interested in learning more about getting started with Web Development? In this series, Dan Wahlin will kick things off in Week 1 and explain the how to build your skills in web development from scratch. Building web applications is fun, rewarding, and something that will have you waking up excited about what you do every day.
If you work more in the DevOps and cloud engineering space you’ll find these sessions interesting as well. Understanding how these key technologies work will help you out as you work with developers and deal with deployment and maintenance issues at work.

- The foundations of web development
- What it's like working as a web developer
- What it takes to succeed as a web developer
- Tools, services, and frameworks you should be using
- Why you need to understand web development (even if you're a cloud engineer)
Week 2: How Browsers and Websites Work
March 19th, 2021 | 9:00 AM MT - 10:15 AM MT
A web browser takes you anywhere on the internet. It retrieves information from other parts of the web and displays it on your desktop or mobile device. The information is transferred using the Hypertext Transfer Protocol, which defines how text, images and video are transmitted on the web. This week you'll learn how browsers and websites work, which is critical whether you are a web developer or a cloud engineer assisting with application deployments.

- Client and server communication
- HTTP protocol foundations
- Cookies and Privacy
Week 3: HTML Fundamentals
March 26th, 2021 | 9:00 AM MT - 10:15 AM MT
HTML is the standard markup language for creating Web pages. It describes the structure of a Web page using a series of elements that tell your web browser how to render content. In this week you'll learn the fundamentals of HTML, including the most common HTML elements which are the building blocks of any webpage.

- Basic HTML and HTML5
- HTML Document Structure
- Working with HTML elements
- Understanding tags and attributes
- Working with paragraphs, images, links, buttons, and more!
Week 4: CSS Fundamentals
May 2nd, 2021 | 9:00 AM MT - 10:15 AM MT
This week is all about Cascading Style Sheets (CSS for short.) You use style sheets to tell the browser how to display text and other content written in HTML. You can use CSS to control the color, font, size, spacing, and a ton of other aspects of HTML elements.

- CSS Syntax
- CSS selectors and declarations
- Dealing with inline styles
- Working with external and internal style sheets
- Working with paragraphs, images, links, buttons, and more!
Week 5: JavaScript Fundamentals
May 9th, 2021 | 9:00 AM MT - 10:15 AM MT
JavaScript is a scripting language that is insanely popular. You can use JavaScript to make web pages interactive. Along with HTML and CSS, there's no doubt that JavaScript is one of the core technologies of the web. JavaScript is supported by all modern browsers. This week, you'll learn fundamental programming concepts in JavaScript, like working with basic data structures, like numbers and strings, along with arrays, objects, functions, loops, if/else statements, and more!

- JavaScript Variables
- Working with strings and numbers
- Dealing with objects and arrays
- Working with JavaScript functions
- Updating HTML Attribute Values with JavaScript
Week 6: Tying it All Together
May 16th, 2021 | 9:00 AM MT - 10:15 AM MT
In the final week of this course we'll tie everything together to give you a complete understanding of web development in the cloud. See how a real-world web application is built with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and how to get it running in a variety of ways in the cloud!
